Executive functioning challenges
Knowing what to do isn’t the same as being able to start.
Does this sound like you?
- “My to-do list just stares at me.”
- “I’m late even when I really try not to be.”
- “I start ten things and finish none.”
- “Everyone says I’m smart, so why is this so hard?”
What’s going on in your brain
Executive functions are your brain’s management skills: starting, planning, remembering, switching gears and keeping track of time. ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma and stress can all affect them. They aren’t a measure of how hard you try or how smart you are.
How we’ll work on it
- Figure out exactly where things break down for you.
- Build routines and systems around how your brain actually works.
- Adjust your environment, from reminders to your schedule to your space, so it does some of the work.
What can start to shift
- Starting feels less heavy
- Less shame about what’s hard
- Systems you actually keep using
Everyone’s path is different. These are possibilities, not promises.
You don’t have to figure it all out before reaching out.
