Sierra standing in front of the Maroon Bells and golden aspens

Hi, I’m Sierra.

I’m a therapist in Boulder who’s direct, curious and on your side. I help people understand how their brain works, then figure out what actually helps.

I’ve sat on the other side of the room

I started therapy when I was younger. What helped most was having someone who listened without judging me and made me feel seen. Later, therapy helped in a different way: I was ready to take action, and I needed support to do it.

Both experiences shape how I work. You get a space where you feel genuinely heard, along with what research tells us actually helps.

Someone telling me to “just breathe” never helped me.

Nobody ever explained why it was supposed to work. So I explain. I’ll walk you through what’s happening in your brain and nervous system, in plain language, so the tools we try actually make sense and you can tell which ones fit you.

Growth isn’t a straight line. Mine wasn’t either.

I’ve always been drawn to this work. I’ve babysat and nannied since I was 12, worked in a preschool, and volunteered with kids abroad. But I didn’t go straight here.

After graduating from CU Boulder in 2015, I lived in the mountains, spent almost two years living and traveling abroad, and gained experience across different businesses, including as an executive assistant, before going back for my master’s in social work.

That path shows up in my work. I understand school pressure, and I also understand deadlines, demanding bosses and burnout. And I know firsthand there’s no single timeline for figuring life out.

What you can expect from me

Science, not fluff

I stay close to current research and I’m picky about my sources. If I suggest something, I can tell you why.

Your brain, not a mold

I take a strengths-based, neurodivergent-affirming approach to brains that work differently. Instead of forcing you to fit your environment, we look at how your environment can fit you.

Trauma-informed, always

Safety, choice and collaboration guide everything I do, whether or not trauma is what brings you in.

You set the pace

I meet you where you are. When you’re ready to dig in, I’ll tell you what I’m noticing, kindly and directly.

Who I work with

  • Tweens and teens, 11 and up. I use easy, real-world language to explain how your brain works. I can also help parents understand what their kid’s brain needs.
  • College students and young adults. New independence, new pressure, and figuring out what’s next.
  • Adults up to 40 who are ready to take control. Whether you’re new to therapy or it hasn’t worked for you before, we’ll find what does. If you’re in your 30s and juggling a demanding job, I speak your language.

I’m LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I’ve worked with clients across many identities. You can show up here as you are.

Clients often tell me they never thought they’d get where they are now. What helps most, they say, is finally understanding the science behind their reactions, and having tools that are realistic for their actual life.

Outside the office

You’ll usually find me outside: walking my dog, Billie, at Pilates, or heading somewhere I’ve never been. I love a long walk and a new adventure.

I also pay attention to how my own surroundings affect me, from what’s in my home to how I spend my time. Our environments shape us. That idea runs through my life and my work.
